8888677771 | ‘Akshay Kumar never asked to increase his scenes in OMG 2, said Pankaj Tripathi will drive the film’, recalls director Amit Rai | Bollywood News

Pankaj Tripathi is known as one of the most reliable actors of the Hindi film industry, yet he is often seen only in supporting roles. But in his recent release OMG 2, Pankaj was the lead star and Akshay Kumar, who has been a superstar for almost three decades played the supporting part. In a recent interview, OMG 2 director Amit Rai shared that Akshay was very well aware that even though he had the responsibility of the film, Pankaj was the one who was going to drive it towards success.

Since Akshay was one of the co-producers of OMG 2, he was involved in a lot of decision making as well and Amit told Bollywood Hungama that he gave him all the liberty to make the film he wanted and did not interfere in his process. “Akshay Kumar said present it however you want to. He did not even look at the length of his role. He said that he (Pankaj’s character) has filed the case, I am only his source. The film is on my shoulders but he (Pankaj) will be the driver of this film,” the director recalled.

In the film, Pankaj has more screen time than Akshay and Amit said that this was never a concern for the Khiladi star. “He never said that increase two of my scenes. He knew his role and he did it honestly. Now, it looks like there are two heroes in the film because they are balanced so well,” he shared.

In an earlier interview, co-producer Ajit Andhare, who is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Viacom18 Studios, said that Akshay did the film for free. The movie’s co-producers also included Cape of Good Films and Wakaoo Films. Ajit spoke to Pinkvilla to dispel rumours about the film’s budget and said, “The reports of the budget of OMG 2 are grossly exaggerated. On the contrary, Akshay (Kumar) didn’t charge a rupee in fee and in fact, walked alongside us in both the financial and creative risk involved in such a courageous film.” He added, “Without him this risk was impossible to take, he was fully invested both creatively and financially.”

OMG 2 marks Akshay’s first success in two years as all his releases in 2022 (Bachchhan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Ram Setu, Raksha Bandhan) and 2023 (Selfiee) had bombed at the box office.
