The Gujarat High Court has upheld the acquittal of former BJP MP from Junagadh, Dinu Bogha Solanki, in a case of attempted murder, one of the grounds being that the families of the accused and the victim have become related to each other by marriage that took place after the incident in 1989.
In 2019, Solanki was convicted for the 2010 murder of RTI activist Amit Jethava, the sentence for which was suspended. Currently out on bail, Solanki’s appeal in the case is pending before the HC. The case was investigated by the CBI that had arrested Solanki in 2013 when he was an MP.
On September 2, a division bench of the HC upheld Solanki’s acquittal by a trial court after it
