SHRAVASTI/LUCKNOW: When Dilruba Sharmi, 32, a beautician from Bangladesh’s Chittagong, and Abdul Karim, 27, who works as a chef in Bahrain, walked away from each other one last time in UP‘s Bahraich on Sunday, Sahir’s immortal words came alive: “Chalo ek baar phir se ajnabi ban jayein hum dono… (Let’s be strangers once again).”
Their love story that began last year when the two found each other on the internet ended on a sad and bitter note. According to police, Adbul hid his marriage from Dilruba who landed in India along with her three children, aged 15, 12 and seven, on a tourist visa on September 26. Sharmi’s husband had died during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Abdul landed in Lucknow on the same day. The five of them reached Bahraich in a bus and checked into a hotel where they stayed for two days before travelling to his native village, Bhartha Roshangarh in Shravasti’s Malhipur area, police said.
