Filmmaker Boney Kapoor has bankrolled several films, featuring his brother Anil Kapoor and late actor-wife Sridevi. He believes that it is his duty to put his skills to good use for his family members.
Boney’s son Arjun Kapoor and daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor are also part of showbiz, like his younger brothers Anil and Sanjay Kapoor. In an interview with The New Indian, the filmmaker said that his guidance and contribution to their careers is not a big deal, and as a family, it’s his duty to support them.

“Maine har wo cheez ki hai jo mujhe theek lagti thi (I did everything that I thought is correct). I thought it was my job, my duty, and I did that thinking that I was doing it for myself. If I guided Anil, it was not just for him, it was for us. If I guided Sri (Sridevi), it was not just for her; it was for us. If I guide my children today, whether it’s Arjun, Janhvi, or Anshula, as a matter of fact, Sanjay, whatever guidance they need, whatever my experience can give…it is just there,” he said.
Since Boney Kapoor has worked with his family members in several movies, the filmmaker calls them the center-forward, while he describes himself as a background player.
Further explaining his point, Boney said, “Why should they not use my skills? Why shouldn’t they seek advice from me? At the same time, I don’t consider this a big deal. I have done nothing, center-forward toh hi hai na, peeche kuch bhi chal raha ho, age center-forward goal nahi kar payega toh goal nahi hoga na (I have done nothing. They are the centre-forward. Whatever is happening in the background, the goal won’t happen if the centre-forward doesn’t do it).”
The next production for Boney Kapoor is Maidaan, starring Ajay Devgn in the lead role. The film was expected to release in June 2023 but has been postponed.
