HYDERABAD: A software employee working in Hyderabad has ended his life by jumping into Ranganayaka Sagar reservoir in Siddipet after he was called for counselling by police in connection with a domestic harassment complaint.
Body of P Kiran Kumar, 32, surfaced on the water on Thursday and based on a complaint of the family members, police altered the missing case into a suspicous death case.
“Kiran’s wife Ashwini lodged a domestic harassment complaint with Godavarikhani police and they called him for counselling on August 23. On August 22 evening, he went to Ranganayaka Sagar and took his life,” Chinnakodur sub-inspector Subhash Goud said.
During the investigation, police came to know that Kiran married Ashwini, who hails from Godavarikhani, on June 9 this year. “Within a month of their marriage, differences cropped up between the couple. Kiran left his house in Narsingi without informing anyone a few days ago. In this regard, a missing case was registred at Narsing police station in Cyberabad,” cousin P Narender told police.
Kiran approached Narsingi police and the missing case was closed. On August 21 night, Kiran came to Siddipet from Narsingi and went to the house of Narender, who lives in Siddipet.
On August 22 evening, Chinnakodur police of Siddipet received a complaint from Narender that his cousin Kiran had gone missing while they were at Ranaganayaka Sagar. Before he went missing, Kiran borrowed the cellphone of Narender and while the latter was looking for Kiran, he found the cellphone and Kiran’s footwear on the reservoir bank. “I suspected that Kiran might have jumped into the water,” Narender said in police complaint. Cops fished out Kiran’s body and after the postmortem, handed over the body to the family members.
